A beloved Tucson tradition, the festival marks the beginning of the holiday season and celebrates the region’s rich cultural heritage. Free and open to the public, this family-friendly festival offers a full day of food, entertainment, shopping and cultural experiences. Enjoy live local entertainment featuring Tejano acts, folklórico groups, Aztec dancers, mariachis and Pascua Yaqui Tribe cultural dancers. Explore a variety of local food vendors and food trucks serving tamales, frybread, tacos, burritos, kettle corn, churros, aguas frescas and more. Discover a variety of local vendors and discover unique gifts, handcrafted treasures and one-of-a-kind finds.
Don’t miss the celebrated tamal contest, featuring four categories: Traditional, Green Corn, Gourmet and Sweet. Judges select first-, second- and third-place winners in each category, with cash prizes of $500, $300 and $150, respectively. The Best Overall Tamal winner takes home $750! The festival also provides individuals and organizations with an opportunity to raise funds for their families, organizations and communities through vending.
