The nave of the Riverside Church is seen during a memorial service for the late Nelson Mandela in New York

Palestinian propagandists have launched a new attempt to hijack Jesus for their anti-Israel cause. During the Pope’s visit to the Middle East, they presented him with a fake ID card listing Christ’s nationality as “Palestinian” and his [quote-unquote] “family members” as Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King—and Yasir Arafat! This, of course, not only insults the name of Jesus, but of the others on list: Gandhi, Mandela, and King never celebrated and encouraged suicidal terror attacks against women and children.

Moreover, the entire “Jesus Was Palestinian” campaign is a deceptive outrage: the Romans first used the name “Palestine” some 40 years after the crucifixion, when they exiled the Jewish people from their land. During Christ’s earthly life, his nation was always called “Judea”—the source of the term “Jew.” Israel-haters count on historical ignorance to advance their cause.
