Here!  Here!  I read the post about the negativity turn in the edlrotiais for Inside Tucson Business as well.  I am coming at this from a completely different perspective than you, Barbara.  I’ve lived in Tucson almost all of my life, as well as my parents and their parents and their parents.  What is true of Tucson   and has been for about 20 years   is we sure know what we DON’T want.  We will tell everyone who will listen about how awful this place is because of .  Where are all the good stories?  What about the fact that Tucson is a Green City, and we have so many non-profits running here that outsiders’ refer to us as the Colorado Springs of Arizona.  We have super successful farmers markets, we have Local First which is a movement based on using our local resources in local establishments.  We have Native Seed SEARCH   an internationally recognized non-profit which endeavors to establish a robust seed bank of heirloom and desert adapted species.  The U of A?  Wow, talk about a seed bank!  I can’t even name the amazing things coming out of our little ole university!  I can go on and on and on with all of the internationally acclaimed experts, institutions, and corporations which make Tucson their home.  There is an enormous amount here to be proud of if we open our eyes, take off the pessimistic blinders, and realize this is a community of value, tradition, history and amazing beauty.  I believe it may not be figuring out how to make us sparkle, I believe it could be as simple as an adjustment in how we look at what we have.
