Not An April Fools’ Joke: Tribe Wins Opener With A Shutout And George Will On Bud Selig And The Commissioner’s Job

Ah, the Cleveland Indians open with a win with a two run ninth in a 2-0 game in Oakland that went late for fans listening on the home front back in Ohio. America’s best sports writer, Terry Pluto, jotted a few notes on the big night for the Tribe.

If you didn’t get to hear my hour-long chat with George Will about his new book on Cubs’ fans collective misery and all things baseball, the audio and transcript will be posted below later today. Note that when I asked Will if he’d like to succeed Bud Selig as the Commission of MLB, the writer and gentleman didn’t say “no.” Baseball, like the Papacy, can be served well by men in their early 70s looking for a few wonderful years at the helm.
